Capt WE Johns, William Earle Johns, born 1893 and died 1968, is
of course best known for his Biggles titles but he did publish 10 science
fiction books. The books were all published with superb dust jackets and most
were never reprinted. This fact suggests the public and the publishers were not
overly enamoured with the series, in fairness it was probably valid as they were
unlikely to appeal to serious science fiction readers and were too far departed
from his core military-adventure audience. That said they are collectable and a
full set in jackets makes an attractive addition to any collection.
