Walter Tevis was born in San Francisco on 28th February 1928. In
1945 he joined the US Navy for 18 months before going to University. He is best
known to the general public by virtue of the film adaptations of his first two
books. Most notably The Hustler starring Paul Newman. This is reason enough to
ensure interest from collectors and consequently the book is sought after in
