More Information
Victor Hugo, born 26th February 1802, was one of France's most
influential writers. He remains best known for The Hunchback of Notre Dame ad
Les Miserables of course. These titles have their place in history thanks to the
films and stage version respectively. The bibliography is something of a
nightmare. Books were reissued in tremendous numbers with different publishers
and different titles. The true first editions are regarded as rare and extremely
collectable. They were first issued in Paris and those 1st impressions can
attract very high prices indeed, especially so the key titles. These books are,
sadly, beyond the reach of most of us. Thankfully though, the multitude of later
period reprints, many with superb and attractive bindings, allow almost anyone
the opportunity to collect and amass a nice collection.
