Tom Clancy, born 1947, became a huge international best-selling
author and is widely regarded as the master of his genre. The very successful
film adaptations of his early work did much to broaden his audience. The authors
real love is his non-fiction work however. His work is collectable with The Hunt
for Red October being regarded as something of a cornerstone title for modern
first edition collectors. In all cases, US editions precede the UK, later titles
were printed in great numbers so have little commercial value. Apart from the
first novel, all books are within reach of most collectors. From 1988 there was
a US signed limited edition published for each novel. Clancey.
