Terence Rattigan was born in London on 10th June 1911. Due to his parents frequent trips abroad he was brought up mainly by his grandmother and was already immersed in theatre life. Educated at Harrow and Trinity College Oxford. Early initial success whilst still at Oxford lead Rattigan to leave early to pursue a career as a playwright. His best known work is probably the Winslow Boy though many of his other plays are still performed in the West End on a regular basis. He passed away in 1977.
