More Information
Stephen King was born in Portland Maine on 21st September 1947.
He began writing and submitting short stories whilst still at school and getting
some published. Suitably encouraged he wrote his first novel The Long Walk which
along with his second novel was rejected and remained unpublished. Married with
a family and living in poverty in a trailer he finally got a novel accepted
Carrie ! The immediate and international success gave King the freedom to devote
his time to writing full time. Subsequent works have all been huge bestsellers
with many being turned into films. Due to huge print runs later titles are
freely available for the first edition collector though the early titles are
more difficult and consequently more expensive
