Somerset Maugham was a prolific author and whilst best known for
his bestselling novels such as Cakes and Ale and Of Human Bondage he had a long
and distinguished career which saw him travel the world, write nineteen novels,
nine collections of short stories and twenty-five plays and a dozen highly
regarded works of non fiction before he passed away on the French Riviera in
1965 at the age of 91. His work is of course sought after by collectors, the
early works are rare books and his classic titles in jacket equally rare and
consequently expensive.
