More Information
Sir Walter Scott was born on 15th August 1771 to a well educated
and comfortable family. After leaving school he trained for a career in law
though always harboured literary ambitions. His first book was an immediate
success as were his later books. Whilst he is best remembered by most today for
Ivanhoe, critics acclaim his first book Waverley to be his best. Scott passed
away in 1832.
