Simon Raven was born in London on 28th December 1927 to a
comfortable background. He was a keen reader from an early age and his passion
for literature won him a scholarship to Charterhouse School from were he was
expelled before going on to King's College Cambridge. He also fought in India
during his national service. He remains best known for his Arms to Oblivion
series. A prolific author who was dogged by controversy throughout his entire
life.
