More Information
Shirley Jackson, born 14 December 1916, wrote one of the greatest
spine chilling ghost stories ever, The Haunting of Hill House. The book
was adapted for the big screen and released as The Haunting, very well done and
highly acclaimed. As well as being a bestselling writer she is also very popular
amongst first edition collectors. Her early novels are very much sought after
with copies in original dustwrappers selling for considerable sums. American
editions precede the English and tend to be of greater value. That said the
British issues are rarer. Signed and inscribed items or association copies
really do attract a premium.
