More Information
Saul Bellow, born 1915, is an American novelist born in Canada
who, most notably, won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1976. He has a huge
reputation amongst serious critics and literature aficionados. His finest work
is probably to be found in Seize the Day and Herzog. both being
also very collectable. Generally speaking the American editions precede the
British. Being an American author writing on US themes he enjoys greater
popularity in America, both amongst readers and collectors. Consequently, and
despite being more common, the USA editions are of greater value. The first
three books, as always it seems, are the rarest 1st editions and are relatively
expensive, the later titles are not prohibitive, in fact many are absolute
bargains.
