More Information
Roddy Doyle, born 1958 is a highly regarded comic writer,
favourably compared to some of his fellow great countrymen such as Brendan Behan.
The first came to prominence when his first novel was adapted into a successful
film by Alan Parker. His reputation then sealed by the Booker Prize, The Van was
nominated and Paddy Clarke actually won. Naturally this lead to considerable
interest amongst collectors. The first three books are the scarcest and most
valuable, with the rest being relatively easy to locate. In all cases the UK
editions precede their US counterparts and are of greater value.
