Robert William Service is one of the most read of modern poets.
He was born in Preston, Lancashire, on 16 January 1874 and was one of ten
children. His work is very collectable today. many of the titles mentioned in
this bibliography are fairly described as rare books and command sums
accordingly. Anyone wishing to collect all of his work in 1st editions state and
with original dustwrappers will need both patience and a considerable budget.
Signed items and ephemeral pieces are particularly sought after and command a
premium price. For those just wishing to read these marvellous works there are
plenty of reprints and compilations, many period, which provide a rich source at
much more accessible prices.
