Brief Biography
Robert Aickman, born 1914, is largely
responsible for saving the canals and waterways of Great Britian
from total decay and ruination. As an author he was somewhat
eccentric but is regarded today as one of the most profound
writers of ghost and supernatural, he preferred the term Strange
Stories, fiction. Further details of his life can be found in
his excellent autobiography The Attempted Rescue published in
1966.
