RK Narayan, born in Madras India 10 October 1906, is best known
for his Malgudi novels and Under the Banyan Tree he remains one of the most
important Indian writers. His book are also very collectable American editions
are far more common than English, consequently of lesser value in collectability
terms. Where the bibliography notes the US title it precedes the UK 1st edition.
Later titles are relatively easy to obtain though the early tiles in original
dust jackets are regarded as rare books and attract premium prices. Overall, a
highly regarded man by critics readers and collectors, something which is
unlikely to diminish over time.
