More Information
RD Blackmore, Richard Doddridge born 7 June 1825 to 1900, is best remembered for is hugely successful Lorna Doone which has never been out of print since publication. There are several early collectable reissues illustrated by various artists. The main area for collectors though are the three volume first edition sets. As always original cloth is the most desirable followed by notable bindings. The sets are rare books and accordingly priced. It is an area reserved for the serious collector with a proper budget. There are plenty of attractive contemporaneous reprints to satisfy those on more modest budgets.
