More Information
Rafael Sabatini was born in Italy on 29 April 1875 and educated
in Switzerland and Portugal. He returned to England and served as an
intelligence officer during World War I. His novels were a huge commercial
success selling in vast numbers with several being turned into Hollywood films.
Sabatini combined history with romance and adventure, though often picked up and
criticised by academic historians for lack of accuracy they certainly captured
the attention of the public. The books are still sought by collectors today
though early titles in jackets are rare books. Care also needs to be taken as
some are undated so previous listed titles need to be checked as well as any
dated catalogues to rear. The author passed away in 1950
