More Information
Quentin Crisp, born 25 December 1908, has become a better known
figure than perhaps his literary output would suggest. It is based mainly on his
most famous work, The Naked Civil Servant. Originally published by Jonathan Cape
with a 3,500 copy print run, it started slowly and took a while to sell out. It
subsequently became something of a cornerstone title, thanks in no small part to
John Hurt's portrayal of him in the film adaptation of the book. It is, of
course, the most collectable of the authors works, whilst not exactly a rare
book, fine copies in nice jackets are no longer common by any means.
