ALARCON, Pedro Antonio de (1833-91)
Spanish novelist. His best-known work, because it was made into a famous ballet, is Three-Cornered Hat (1874, tr. 1918) - an amusing semi-folktale of the exposing of a wicked official. His best novel is The Infant with the Globe, which combines adventure and psychology.
After displaying an ability for journalism and writing at his home he went to Madrid where he
became well known, especially when at the uproar of the revolution in, 1854, he
was the editor of the newspaper El Látigo
