Nick Hornby was born in Maidenhead, England, in 1957, educated at Cambridge University he eventually began teaching but really wanted to become a writer. He did try initially writing screenplays et for TV though none were accepted. His first novel Fever Pitch was a great success and was later adapted to the silver screen, this success finally gave Hornby some financial freedom and enabled him to devote his time to writing. Hi snext 2 books were also turned into films and have cemented his reputation as one of our leading modern fiction writers.
