Nick Hornby was born in Maidenhead, England, in 1957, educated at
Cambridge University he eventually began teaching but really wanted to become a
writer. He did try initially writing screenplays et for TV though none were
accepted. His first novel Fever Pitch was a great success and was later adapted
to the silver screen, this success finally gave Hornby some financial freedom
and enabled him to devote his time to writing. Hi snext 2 books were also turned
into films and have cemented his reputation as one of our leading modern fiction
writers. The first book is relatively rare and sought after by modern first
edition collectors.
