More Information
Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in Massachusetts on 4 July 1804 and is widely regarded as one of America's greatest novelists. There are numerous books and internet sites that cover his life so we shall not bore you further with it. The books are, hardly surprisingly, very collectable in first edition status. None of the books included in this bibliography could be regarded as cheap, several are very expensive. The American editions, in most cases, precede the English and they are also more desirable for collectors. With English editions being considerably cheaper this may offer an opportunity for collectors who do not have the considerable budget that would be required to collect US 1sts.
