More Information
MP Shiel, born 1865 and died 1947, was an important and
influential British author and played a large part in the development of the
science fiction and fantasy genre. He also dabbled in the detective genre with
his series character Prince Zaleski. He is though, perhaps best known for The
Purple Cloud which is regarded by students of the genre and collectors as
something of a cornerstone title. His early work is, unsurprisingly, rare in 1st
issue status, they are also very collectable, indeed every English edition
listed in this bibliography is of collectable value. UK editions are generally
worth more than American editions.
