Monica Edwards was born Monica Ledoux Newton on 8th November 1912
in Derbyshire England. Her writing drew greatly on real life places were usually
real and many of the characters based on people she knew or met. She is of
course best remembered for her horse-pony stories something her publishers were
keen to label her with. The Punchbowl Farm and Romney Marsh series are still
firm favourites amongst children's book collectors. Whilst they would not be
regarded as rare books finding nice copies in jackets is no longer easy
