May Gibbs was born in Surrey on 17 January 1877 and remains a
much loved illustrator and author. here works are extremely collectable. The
books listed here in this bibliography are the Australian first editions.
Condition is especially important in this field of collecting. Given the nature
of children's books, few survive and when they do condition is often impaired.
This makes VG and fine copies rare and as such they attract a premium. There is
also a converse side to this and that is that potential collectors have to be a
little bit more flexable in terms of faults than people in other areas. The idea
of amassing a full set in superb condition is ambitious to say the least .
