More Information
Mark Twain, real name Samuel Langhorne Clemens, was born in
Missouri on 30th November 1835 and spent his early years by the banks of the
Mississippi river. He is of course one of America's finest writers and requires
more room than this column provides, even to attempt to do him justice. Suffice
is to say, he remains a highly collectable author, especially so in the USA.
American editions are generally more valuable than their UK equivalents. First
editions do turn up, perhaps more regularly than one might imagine, though
finding them in particularly nice condition is difficult. If you are looking to buy or sell books then our
antiquarian book dealers section may be of some assistance. |
