The penultimate book and the largest print run of 82,000 copies.
Whilst being the commonest book it gave rise to the rarest trade edition, issues
with a Golden Gun on the front board. This was abandoned by Cape during printing
due to technical problems. It is often claimed to be the rarest of all the Bond
books, rarer even than the signed limited. This is purely speculative and
experience suggests it may not be true. Collectors should be aware of forgeries
as they do turn up fairly regularly especially on online auction sites. There is
a clear textural difference in the gun copy, it having a finer smoother
weave cloth.
