ANDREWS, Lucilla English novelist, born in Suez. She joined the British Red Cross in 1940 and later qualified as a nurse at St Thomas's hospital, London. Medicine is the background of all her romantic and humorous novels ; indeed the Guardian has described her as "the brand leader of hospital fiction".
