More Information
Leslie Poles Hartley was born in 1895 in Peterborough, England
and whilst not hugely read or indeed collected he does remain a favourite
amongst those familiar with his work. Educated at Balliol College Oxford, broken
by the First World War, he fell naturally into the literary / journalistic
lifestyle. LP Hartley is perhaps best known for The Go-Between and A
Perfect Woman both of which enjoyed commercial and critical success on
publication.
