Leo Walmsley the much loved Yorkshire novelist was born in Shipley on 29th
September 1892 he began his career in education and research before joining the
military. He had a distinguished career in the Flying Corps surviving no less
than 14 crashes and was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry before leaving
due to invalidity. He drew heavily on his experiences during his literary career
building up a a loyal following amongst readers and subsequently collectors.
