More Information
Laurence Sterne, born 1713 and passed away 1768, was a vicar and
something of a sensation. He is best known for Tristram Shandy, a hugely popular
series of books. The nine volume set was published over a period of seven years.
They were reissued frequently and are something of a bibliographical nightmare
for collectors. A complete set of true 1st issue books is something few can
aspire to, though mixed and period sets are more accessible. None of the other
works by Laurence Stern are common, and consequently cheap, though Tristram
Shandy Gentleman is, by far, the most valuable.
