Kate Atkinson won the Whitbread for her first novel, Behind the
Scenes at the Museum. This book became a hyper-modern collectable almost
immediately. A small print run means it is fairly rare. In our experience it is
a classic example of a book whose market value has exceeded it's actual saleable
value. Collectors should also beware of the book club edition which just states,
something like, produced for the book people on the copyright page. Also, most
of the books listed in this bibliography are prone to the annoying paper tanning
due to cheap paper stock. Later titles are pretty common so serious collectors
may want to only consider signed first editions.
