John Wyndham was born in Warwickshire, England, on 10th July 1903
to a comfortable background until his parents split up. he began writing science
fiction at prep school after reading The Time Machine by HG Wells. He
began offering short stories to magazines and periodicals before attempting his
first novel. He is best known today for the classic Day of the Triffids
and to a lesser extent The Kraken Wakes. His work is sought after by
collectors with Triffids being regarded as a cornerstone science fiction title.
