Brief Biography
| John Banville was
born on 8th December 1945 in Wexford, Ireland, after initial
efforts in trying to be recognised as a painter he turned to
literature. He wrote according to himself, "bad imitations of
James Joyce".
His work has attracted numerous awards and nominations including
the Booker Prize shortlist, the Whitbread and the Guardian
Fiction Prize. Banville's early titles are scarce books and have
