John James Osborne was born in London on 12 December 1929. His
reputation is as a playwright. His best, and most successful, work was early on
in his career. This was evidently enough to carry him through his life and he
remained a leading light for the rest of his life. His most well known work is
probably his first, the original angry young man tale, Look Back in Anger.
Readers are well served by a multitude of reprints and paperbacks, all available
at very reasonable prices. Collectors will have to stump up some money though.
The early 1st editions, in their original dust jackets are relatively expensive,
though by no means unattainable for those with a reasonable budget. Association
copies and scripts etc signed by actors and colleagues are especially sought
after and do attract a considerable premium, depending of course on the
signature and nature of the association.
