More Information
John McGahern, born in Dublin Ireland 1934, is an important and
influential Irish writer. His canon of work is relatively modest but of a
consistently high standard. His Irish roots are always evident in his work and
come to the fore irrespective of the books setting. He remains best known for
his first novel, The Barracks, which is also the rarest and consequently
most valuable. English editions precede their US counterparts in all cases and
are considered more desirable to collectors. All of the pre 1980 titles are of
collectable value and keenly sought.
