More Information
Jocelyn Brooke was a very stylish writer best known whose reputation was built on a few novel and a 2 books of verse. He was born on 30th November 1908 in Kent England, his father being a wine merchant. Initially educated in Canterbury and later going to Worcester College Oxford. Leaving Oxford without a degree Jocelyn Brooke reluctantly joined the family business, later enlisting in the army, he served from 1940 to 1945 when he was discharged. He did return to the army in 1947 but bought himself out with the proceeds of The Military Orchid and then devoted himself to writing full time. All of his first editions are collectable today, The Orchid series being the most popular but Six Poems being by far the rarest and most valuable..
