Ivy Compton-Burnett, born 1892 - 1969, was an English writer who
specialised on what may be called today the domestic novel. The books are always
rich in dialogue rather than background which makes them an intense and
demanding read.
The books are collected, early titles are, needless to say,
scarce in original dust jackets though not perhaps as expensive as one might
think. In all cases the English editions precede the American with several books
not seeing an American release. There is only one alternative title which has
been duly noted.
