More Information
Hugh Lofting was born in 1889 in Berkshire, England and was one of six children. After leaving school he wandered the world pursuing a number of careers including prospecting in Canada. He fought in World War I until being wounded in action in 1917. It was about now that he was persuaded to try and get a wider audience for his writing. The result was an immediate, and enduring, success. Brought to the big screen by Rex Harrison the books and character are still popular today, especially amongst collectors. The early titles in dust jacket are considered rare books and highly sought after.
