More Information
Henry Green, born 1905 and died 1973, was the pseudonym of the
novelist Henry Vincent Yorke. He was a very capable author, his ability
certainly exceeded that of many of his contemporaries, some of whom remain
better known today. His style and dialogue has been compared favourably with
James Joyce, some measure by which to be compared. Collectors are well aware of
his value both financially and literally. Pre 1940 1st editions in dust jackets
fetch considerable sums today and are much sought after. Except for the second
book the English editions were published first. In some cases the Canadian
edition precedes the American by some time. Selecting the best tile is very
difficult but, in reading terms, Living and Party Going merit
particular mention.
