More Information
Graham Swift, born 1949, is not a prolific author but makes up in
quality what lacks in quantity. His first book has become a standard work for
modern first edition collectors and is uncommon in fine condition. Waterland
was an immediate success with critics and award panels and has continued to grow
in stature over the years. He won the Booker Prize in 1996 with Last Orders
which brought him to a wider audience. The book was also adapted for a film
featuring Bob Hoskins and Michael Caine. Collectors should be aware of later
state wrappers on this title, whilst the book is a first issue the publishers
changed the jacket to include a Booker Winner flash on the front.
