Georgette Heyer
was born in Wimbledon in 1902 to a comfortable family. She began writing at an
early age and had her first book published at the age of nineteen. She wrote
prolifically over the years in two main genres, historical romance and detective
fiction, the former being the style she is best known for. All of her first
editions are collectable, especially early titles. Her crime fiction work tends
to be of greater value. Georgette Heyer passed away, aged seventy-two, in 1974
