More Information
Gavin Maxwell, born 15 July 1914, near the coast of Galloway,
where his family have had their ancestral home since the 1400s. He lost his
father at Antwerp whilst still a baby. He remains best known today for his
classic tale Ring of Bright Water. The book was a huge success, both
commercially and critically and was the subject of an equally successful film
adaptation of the same name. The books are sought after by collectors. The are
not hugely expensive so are very viable for those collecting on a limited
budget. Given that the books are not staggeringly rare, we recommend new
collectors to be very condition conscious. Hold out for nice clean copies with
VG+ to fine dust jackets.
