More Information
Francis Brett Young born 1884 - 1954, was an author whose
popularity has waned somewhat. Indeed, it began to do so during the authors own
lifetime, he acknowledged in letters that he was 'now out of date'. It would be
a mistake to write him off though, he remains an established author amongst
collectors and loyal fans of his work. Much of his early work was, and still is,
of a very high standard. As can be be seen from the bibliography there are a
number of undated books which can make 1st editions tricky to identify. Some of
the American publications were retitled, these have been duly noted. As
previously mentioned, he is someone who is still collected and many of his books
are rightly regarded as rare. Early titles in dust jackets are very difficult to
find and do attract decent prices, though by no means unattainable for the
serious collector
