Francis Cottam, born 1957, works as a journalist for various magazines in the United Kingdom. His first novel, Fire Fighter, was published in 2001 to immediate acclaim from critics and reviewers. Collectors were also keen to jump on the bandwagon, the book became yet another ultra-modern instant collectable. Prices escalated rapidly, eventually falling back to more sensible levels. The book has held its own since then though, at the time of writing, still a collectable book, especially so as the canon of work progresses and the quality remains consistently high.
