Flann O'Brien, born 1911 and died 1966, was an Irish novelist and
newspaper columnist. Is first book is generally regarded as his best, it
certainly is in terms of collectability and value. The book passed largely
unnoticed at the time, it was not until the 1960s that he began to achieve the
wider acclaim he deserved. Deservedly regarded today as one of Ireland's most
humorous and black comic writers. The publishing history is a little complex,
some work being first released in Ireland, some in the UK. When there are
editions published in both England and America, the English edition precedes, UK
1st editions are also of greater value than their American counterparts. All of
the UK editions listed would be regarded as collectable and of some value. The
first book is of considerable value though, there is an issue point noted that
affects the value quite dramatically.
