More Information
Elizabeth Bowen was born in Dublin, Ireland, 7th June 1899 and
began her writing career in the 1920's. 1923 saw the publication of her first
book and also her marriage. She showed a particular flair for short stories
which also met with commercial success. Moving from Oxford to London saw a
marked change in her writing. Bowen loved the London life and their new home,
later gutted during the Blitz. She passed away in 1973 still enjoying
popularity, especially so in the USA. Collectors seeking to assemble a full set
in jackets have set themselves a task, the early titles in jackets are rare
books though later titles are relatively easy to source
