Dodie Smith, born 1896 to 1990, is best known for The Hundred and
One Dalmatians a story set in stone as a classic thanks in no small part to the
legendary Disney film. Needless to say the books are very collectable indeed.
First editions attract considerable sums, particularly her key title and the
other novels. As ever, presence of dust jacket and general condition make a big
difference. English editions are of greater value and tend to be preferred by
collectors over their American counterparts.
