More Information
Daphne Du Maurier was born in London in 1907, the daughter of a
famous literary and acting family, presumably a shadow from which she could not
escape ?
' Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again' must be one of the most famous
and evocative opening lines for a book and film. Her books were, of course,
already a huge success but there can be little doubt that the film Rebecca did
not harm her career or reputation. There can be few authors who have enjoyed
such a run a successful film adaptations. The first few books are rare in dust
jackets whilst later titles can be found with relative ease
