Cyril Connolly was born in Coventry, England, on 10th September
1903 and is regarded as one of the most important literary figures of his
generation. Known mainly for his literary criticism he was much admired by the
major writers of the day. It is a matter of regret for many that Connolly spent
more time on other writers work rather than his own, it was perhaps a great
potential loss. Whilst he was the chief critic on the Sunday Times he produced a
reference work that is still quoted today. The Modern Movement the 100 most
important books. Books listed are often referred to by book dealers as a
"Connolly 100 title".
