SYNOPSIS |
| Paul Shanahan earns half a living as a jack of all the marine trades. The other half is a
mystery. An Irish-American living in exile in
Belgium, he has been suspected of IRA activity.
He's also been accused of being a CIA agent.
Shanahan, in short, is a scoundrel.
Three weeks after Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait, Shanahan is asked to deliver a boat from the Mediterranean to America. Its cargo is gold and his fee will be considerable. Ostensibly the gold has nothing to do with the Gulf War and everything to do with the Irish Troubles, but Shanahan has his suspicions. He also has his eye on a pension fund that will enable him to retire to his beloved Cape Cod, there to catch tuna and watch the sun set across the dunes.
